RAJASTHAN ITINERARY

A special, once in a lifetime grand tour of Rajasthan, the land of Kings. Party the night away in one of the Lake palaces that will be hired out exclusively for you. Sip on some chai at the century old cenotaphs of the Jodhpur queens as the sun melts away into the desert, and warm your self by a campfire as traditional Rajasthani singers and dancers bring the night alive in your private desert camp. Enroute we will ride camels and horses, shoot clay pigeon, bargain for antiques and visit some of the most spectacular architectural sights in the world in the form of temples, palaces and forts. Truly, a once in a lifetime trip.

DAY 1 (UMAID BHAVAN PALACE - JODHPUR)

  • Everyone lands into Jodhpur via Bombay or Delhi.
  • Traditional welcome at the Umaid Bhavan Palace (The Umaid Bhavan Palace is considered to be the greatest living art deco Palace in the world. The once largest residence in the world and still home to the current Maharaja, the Palace is now part museum and part Hotel).
  • Introduction to Rajasthan by Dhananjaya Singh, the author of House of Marwar.
  • Options include exploring the Palace, tennis, and squash, sightseeing.
  • Recommend everyone meet at the Palace Pillars for Sunset tea.
  • Private grand dinner on the ramparts of the 15th century Meherangarh fort with fireworks, puppet shows and music.

DAY 2 (UMAID BHAVAN PALACE-JODHPUR)

  • Dep. after breakfast for Mehrangarh Fort sightseeing 3-4 hrs with a guide.
  • Easy, private lunch at "Inn Season", the best Rajasthani cuisine in Jodhpur.
  • Post lunch options include: shopping (great antiques), Polo (maybe), sightseeing, tennis or squash.
  • High tea, by sunset, at Rani Ki Chatri, the cenotaphs of all the Jodhpur Queens.
  • Drinks in one of the Royal Suites along with a private showing of the RATHORE COLLECTION by Raghuvender Rathore, followed by a private sit down dinner on roof of Umaid Bhavan Palace (weather permitting).
  • Private party in the royal suite.

DAY 3 (INTO THE THAR DESERT….ROYAL CAMP-NAGAUR FAIR)

  • Post breakfast drive to the royal camp set up in the 12th century Nagaur fort.
  • Set on the outskirts of the fort is the largest camel fair in Asia bustling with trade. The camel trade, that is. For centuries, camel and cattle traders from all over Rajasthan have assembled here to buy, sell, bargain and barter for these desert beasts. An awesome experience, find yourself in the midst of city spontaneously sprung, surrounded by thousands of camels, cattle, horses and villagers from all the surrounding Rajasthani tribes in their colorful splendor.
  • Special dinner and entertainment in the fort at night..

DAY 4 (ROYAL CAMP – NAGAUR FAIR)

  • Explore the fort and camel fair all day followed by a camel safari through the fair.
  • Special dinner and entertainment at the fort.

DAY 5 (BAL SAMAND LAKE PALACE)

  • Arrival at Balsamand Lake Palace, a 12th century royal retreat with canals and orchards and also an important water source which is why it is customary for the Royal family to celebrate the first rains here.
  • Brunch by the lake accompanied by clay pigeon shooting and Bloody Mary’s Afternoon can be spent at the psychic healer Alia Baba at his temple (known to levitate people, see your past and future, etc), followed by high tea.
  • Explore Mandore (the old capital of Jodhour), by sunset for those who wish to.
  • Sit down dinner followed by a relaxed evening.

DAY 6 (SARDAR SAMAND LAKE PALACE)

  • Post breakfast drive to Sardar Samand Lake Palace, a contemporary of Umaid Bhavan, this Palace was the winter shooting lodge still abounds with several species of game birds and animals.
  • Lunch at Fort Chanwa, a 250 year old fort, in Luni village, with traditional craftsmen at work .
  • Get into Sardar Samand and have high tea by the Lake during sunset. Relax, play tennis, squash, walk or drive around the lake.
  • Easy dinner followed by VALENTINA’S BIRTHDAY party by the pool overlooking the lake. Theme party with Rajasthani entertainment. We will work on the theme.

DAY 7 (RAWLA NARLAI – NARLAI)

  • Easy morning followed by a drive to Rawla Narlai and lunch on arrival
  • Visit the 8th century hand carved, Ranakpur Jain temples enroute followed by an easy evening in Narlai.
  • Drinks and entertainment at Narlai, followed by a special dinner by the step well.

DAY 8 (DEOGARH PALCE)

  • All day horse safari to Kumbalgarh Fort for those who are comfortable on a horse. Ride through the beautiful Rajasthani countryside with a stopover at Thandi Beri for lunch. Those who cannot ride will be driven to Deogarh Palace. Explore the surrounding jungles and Kumbalgarh fort all afternoon.
  • Dinner and entertainment at the Palace.

DAY 9 (RAJ VILAS – JAIPUR)

  • Drive to Udaipur and explore Udaipur all day. The lake palace, shop, sight see etc.
  • Catch the evening flight to Jaipur.
  • Relax in the 7** luxury of Raj Vilas.

DAY 10 (RAJ VILAS – JAIPUR)

  • Jaipur sightseeing and shopping all day.
  • Raj Vilas in the evening.
